🍺 Alcohol
Beer is the big one. Most beer is brewed from barley and contains gluten. Gluten-free beers exist but check the label. Wine and pure spirits (vodka, gin, whisky, rum, tequila) are generally considered safe because distillation removes gluten proteins. The debate continues among some coeliacs about grain-based spirits. Flavoured spirits, liqueurs, and pre-mixed drinks need checking.
Important: Traffic light ratings reflect the default gluten status of each food. Individual products may differ. Always check the label, especially for orange-rated foods.
